Our Process

Our Process

Using high quality professional digital camera equipment we may take as many as 4,000 images on your wedding day.  To keep your memories safe, we also back up these images during the day to portable hard drive equipment and never allow the digital media to leave our possession.  The same evening after your wedding we come back to the office and download the images into our computer.  For an extra measure of safety the digital files are burned to DVDs and one copy is taken off site.

During the post processing phase, we will select the best 400 – 600 photos (sometimes more).  Your images are then color balanced, adjusted for proper exposure and put onto a DVD to become your proofs (or digital negatives). Your proofs are also posted on line for your friends and family to view and order. We attempt to have the processing of your proofs completed and Posted within one week of your wedding. During our busy season however it may take a bit longer but never more than 3 weeks.

You are free to print the photos from your digital negatives DVD.  It’s important for us to note however, when we process your photos and have them printed it’s done through a carefully controlled procedure using professional photo labs.  Therefore we cannot guarantee the quality of the photos that you have printed at a local lab or retailer. This is why many wedding couples and their families still prefer to order photos from us online because we guarantee the quality of your photos and we guarantee your satisfaction.

Within the next two weeks after your proofs are ready we take the best 50 – 100 images (sometimes more) that tell your wedding day story and apply our very own special artwork to them.  With these images will we will create your online slideshow and we will pre-design your wedding album.  The predesigned wedding album is posted to your webpage for you to review and request changes.

We’ve discovered that it’s much easier for wedding couples to see a pre-designed album and then make small changes rather than sift through 600 photos to narrow down your favorites. Additionally, when we design your album we may select special photos to use for backgrounds, accessories or other designed elements that people may not normally consider.

Once you approve your album design it is then sent to the binder. About a month later we receive the completed wedding album.

If you have any questions about this process please feel free to contact us.

It’s Your Day Bridal Boutique

January 25, 2008 by Foland\'s Photography

Several years ago at the Caboto Club wedding show someone came up to me and said do you know that we’ve been recommending your photography business?  I was quite surprised and I said, “No I didn’t know that”. They said yes one of our brides told us how well you took care of them and ever since we’ve been recommending you.

Later, I had a conversation with the bride that they had recommended and she said yes the people at It’s Your Day Bridal Boutique were wonderful. They took care of me and provided everything I needed and my wedding dress was beautiful.

One day shortly after I called Sarah and we had a very nice conversation.  I found out that, like me, Sarah was very big on customer service. It was both of our business goals to make sure that people were well taken care of, satisfied and happy with our service.  Since that time I’ve spoken with many brides and they have all been more than pleased with how well Sarah has taken care of them.

It’s not very often that I will recommend someone but this is certainly an exception.  If you’re a future bride and you have not chosen your wedding dress yet I highly recommend that you go to La Salle, ON and speak with Sarah or someone at It’s Your Day Bridal Boutique.  And while you’re at it, let them know that Brett sent you.

By the way Sarah had live models at the wedding show this year–here’s a photo.

Papa Panini’s Restaurant

January 25, 2008 by Foland\'s Photography

We wanted to take a moment and tell you about someone special that we met at the wedding show this year at the Caboto Club.  Located right next to us was Papa Panini’s Pasta and Sandwich Shop.  The owners, Jason and Tammy Lavigne, worked alongside of us all weekend. Jason and Tammy also provide a catering service as well as owning a restaurant in Amherstburg, ON. They had some wonderful samples of their food at the show and this was a great thing for me because got to munch all day on some wonderful things like homemade chocolate chip cookies, Italian wedding soup and some amazing dips.

What impressed me the most about Jason and Tammy was how many people that came to the show already knew about them and their restaurant. Apparently they’re quite famous for their wonderful sandwiches.  So, next time you’re in Amherstburg be sure to visit their restaurant and if you’re in need of a catering service I have a good feeling you will be well taken care of by Jason and Tammy.

Wedding Show at Caboto Hall in Windsor

January 25, 2008 by Foland\'s Photography

On January 19th and 20th we attended the wedding show at the Caboto Club. This year we were located on the lower level and to our surprise we quite liked this new location.  Unlike being upstairs in the main room the traffic and noise were not so hectic and we were able to speak to people in a more comfortable atmosphere.  So even though we didn’t get quite the same amount of traffic as we would have in the main room it wasn’t so crowded and the quality of conversations was much better than it had been in previous years

As always our flush mount albums were a big hit.  As many of you know, each year we look for the best album makers at the photographer’s conventions.  For five years now we’ve used the same album maker and we just love the quality of their albums.

If you visited us at the wedding show we would like to say thank you, and if you didn’t have enough time to look through our albums and our work we’d like to encourage you to give us a call, setup an appointment, and come in and see us in a more relaxed atmosphere and chat with us.

Once again we would like to say thank you to everyone who made our show this year as success. We would also like to say thank you to Nancy Campana from Nouveau Event Planning for all of her hard work.

The Last Dance

January 9, 2008 by Foland\'s Photography

Occasionally there is a moment in the world of wedding photography that stands above all others. The photo that you see below is one of those moments.

I was the photographer at Dorothy and Rick’s wedding and was witnessing the Indian Candle Hat Dance for the first time.

The candle hat is place on the head of people in the wedding party and they dance with the hat for a short time. The hat is then passed to another person. This beautiful 92 year old grandmother who could barely walk and who could barely see got up and joined in to celebrate her grandson’s wedding. I later learned that Rick’s grandmother passed away a short time after the wedding.

Dorothy and Rick’s wedding took place more than a year ago and to this day I still get a lump in my throat when I see this photo. What an honor it is for me to have captured this moment.

Last wedding of 2007

January 5, 2008 by Foland\'s Photography

2007 has been an awesome year for our photography business. It would be difficult to describe how much I enjoyed working with every single wedding couple this year. To be part of someone’s wedding and an intimate part of their day is truly an honor. And, I get to create memories for them, their family and perhaps their children.

We closed the year with the wedding of Emily and Stephen. We celebrated two Chinese Tea Ceremonies and a wonderful reception at the Cleary in Windsor, Ontario.

Here are a few photos from their wedding:

Here’s Emily looking mighty fine.

Emily blessed me with one of my all time favorite wedding photos.
